A lot of it is trash, yeah. I use AI images in some of my collages, being a collage artist and all. Unfortunately, most people are not artists and crave instant gratification, which is why "slop" continues to flood this digital hellscape. We have that and tech companies to thank for ruining the idea of using any amount of AI in art.
Personally, I think AI writing is the worst of all AI-generated media. But there is also some very bad human writing...

I am very jaded when it comes to AI for artistic uses because I see so many lazy applications of it, especially in the writing world. Tech-y/business people are the worst since they see writing and art as something that should be mass produced. For them, aesthetics is the final boss of mastering automation, rather than something people do because they love the process.
But in the right hands, it can be used as a tool to make something really interesting and cool. I suspect we will see more of this and it will become its own art form.
