Reddit is False

It’s interesting reading Reddit over time and seeing these patterns. Like you can often just look at a persons profile and see that they are posting wild stories all over the place. In the same week, they are a firefighter, finance bro, and stay at home mom. It’s often not even hidden, yet still these posts are always on the front page. I can only assume the commenters are also trolling.

Also interesting is how the troll center of gravity moves over time. For some time it was r/ama. r/amitheasshole had a long run. Now r/girldinnerdiaries seems to be the cool spot for trolls to make up stories.

Reddit is so ridiculous.

A few points:

The thing that is so funny about the particular troll in the article is she would apparently start accounts and run them for years to give them a deep post history and then drop a troll post.

r/girldinnerdiaries keeps getting posted in my feed and it is so so so fake. I can't believe anyone falls for that shit. It's not even convincing the way some of the r/relationships posts were back in its heyday.

Now that I've gotten older (and lurked Reddit for over a decade) I feel like the fake stories are much easier to spot.
