Culture shocks, anyone?

What is a mundane experience you take for granted in your own country that is very different when you've traveled?

For me, as an American, it is driving everywhere. But when I travel I spend a good 30% of my time on public transit. Which is great when I'm on vacation because it allows me to see more of the place I'm visiting.

But my unpopular opinion is I don't know if I could do that in my day to day life. I really like the flexibility of cars, especially in a midsized city. I would probably feel differently if I lived in London or NYC.
