This NYT article makes me so angry

The anecdote where Najya thinks she's done well on a math test only to find out she's failed is heartbreaking. The fact that this apparently happened repeatedly is why I do put a lot of the blame on Hannah-Jones. I don't understand how sending emails and scheduling lots of meetings with ineffective administrators was going to resolve the much deeper issues at the school.

I also attended local public schools k-12. My high school had a very racially and culturally diverse student body, with a high percentage of students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. My parents felt like the schools were not teaching math adequately. So, I was homeschooled in math, but attended classes for all of the other subjects. They knew they couldn't fix the system so they worked with what they could.

While I definitely agree that public schools need to be better, we also have to work with what they are right now.
