Yeah I see this a lot too.
I think a lot of it comes from the 90s culture "men and women are the same and want the same things" ethos. So neither sex really understands each other, especially when it comes to sexual and romantic relationships.
Men suck
That’s the vibe I have often gotten from women. I feel kind like the societal villain sometimes. When I talk about it with women, they often say something to the effect of “Men do suck. Oh, not you, but most other men”. It doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence. Even if they’re being honest about that, I walk around assuming most women think I’m a piece of shit by default. It’s not very fun.
I don’t feel it’s reciprocal either. The men I talk to don’t express intense negativity towards women. There’s plenty of objectification, unfortunately, but I don’t often hear men saying things that imply they think most women are morally bad like I often hear women saying about men.
I know less about the dynamics between women that this pieces covers more of, though.
