Hans Holbein and Anne of Cleves' famous portrait

This portrait is really beautiful in real life. It is very lifelike and detailed.

I wouldn't call it a "catfish" but I think the opulence of Anne's clothing and headdress do a lot of heavy lifting in making her look attractive. She is not ugly by any means, and personally I think she has more regular, attractive features than Jane Seymour (Wife #3) does in her Holbein portrait. However, it is easy to completely overlook her actual face and just focus on the details of her necklaces and headdress and belt around her very tiny waist.

She ended up lucking out -- she outlived Henry and all of his other wives, and had a good relationship with Henry's children and Henry himself. Compare that to her successor, Catherine Howard, who was executed at 19 or 20 for cheating on Henry (who by that point was super old with an unhealed leg ulcer and probably a traumatic brain injury).
