Had no idea how to pronounce Amanda Seyfried's name
Saw this movie with a couple friends last night. I'm still not really sure what I think about it so here are just my general first impressions:
- This movie is long. Like way longer than normal documentaries. I thought that it was ending about 80min in and started to get up before I realized that no, this movie is going to go on and on and on. Very similar feeling to watching Return of the King for the first time.
- I understand how Elizabeth Holmes was able to charm investors. She has magnetic charisma and also much more beautiful than the still images of her suggest. I especially understand why men in particular were easily persuaded by her.
- Hard to tell who is manipulating who. Is Elizabeth ultimately pulling the strings? Or is Billy a controlling narcissist? Something tells me Elizabeth knows more than what is going on, or strategically stays in the dark for certain things.
- Not a ton of new information overall. As my friend says "Nathan is basically edging us the entire time and I feel like I left with blue balls."
- Did not know "Seyfried" was pronounced "SY-frid"
- Really chaotic third act
- To be honest, I am rooting for the laser technology of "Theranos 2.0". This is completely outside of my expertise so I have no idea if it is feasible or not.
