a church with gimmicky architecture
Lmao are you talking about the Sagrada Familia? 🤣
It is what you make of it
I think increasingly the internet is what you make of it. There are plenty of weird, interesting, energetic areas of the internet still. You just have to be intentional about finding them.
The default experience of the web has become very consumerism driven. The default experience of the web in the past was more about individual expression and small communities. This places still exist, but have to be sought since the default has changed.
It’s like going to visit some cities. If you hit the main experiences that are pressed on you from everyone, you’ll end up in a church with gimmicky architecture primarily built to get money from tourists. If you go off the beaten path, you can find all sorts of interesting places and people which may not be advertised to you. You just have to put a bit more effort in to find them.
Of course, one of the challenges now is that it’s much harder to find these interesting places on the web. There’s so much generated content, finding something real feels like finding a needle in a haystack.

Sorry to anyone who got to this discussion page and saw a bullshit thread. I was testing how replies should work. I still think it can be improved but let us know if you have any suggestions!
